November 1, 2011 - It's been a day ...
Mittwoch, November 2, 2011, 05:41 - ISLAND / ICELAND
... of miserable wind - what the Icelanders call 'norðanátt', meaning the wind is blowing from the north. It is, without question, the worst kind of weather - no clothing is windproof enough to withstand its assault; it slips in through every little crevice. I'm happy to go out in any kind of weather here in Iceland, EXCEPT norðanátt. Also, it's virtually impossible to keep your windows open, so the air in the house gets as stale as the air in your lungs. BLEH.
